Feature Film
Don Who?
AT 2019 · 95 min
Ten episodes, ten directors, ten settings, ten production design teams, ten DOPs, six production managers, 18 shooting days: an anthology film by students of the Department of Set and Costume Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, in collaboration with the Vienna Film Academy and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Molière’s “Dom Juan ou le Festin de Pierre” (1665) served as the inspiration and template for an independent screenplay and a daring experiment, translating the mythic figure of Don Juan into ten distinct contemporary settings — from the inside of a car on a rainy night to a futuristic bar, a Viennese stairwell, and a garish retro hair salon. Over one hundred crew members worked alongside renowned actors, including Maria Hofstätter, Sophie Resch and the voice of John Malkovich. Selected for Diagonale 2019.
